Not Your Ordinary Gingerbread House

Do you make gingerbread houses every year?  We never did as kids and I have never had a desire to make one.  From what I have seen of gingerbread houses there are too many things that can go wrong.  But what if you could make a gingerbread house that held together perfectly, that didn't require any frosting and could be used year after year?  Here is my version of a gingerbread house: a cardboard gingerbread house.  The decorations include: fun foam, puffy paint, glitter and window calking.

Stay tuned for a full tutorial on how to make one of these houses plus ideas on how to decorate it.  Before you get up to your elbows in royal icing save a couple of cardboard boxes and a lot of headache.

  1. Did something like this the other day with my little one. We used a cardboard house shaped gift box from the dollar store. Love that I'll beable to bring it out year after year.
