This post is long overdue as I was trying to focus on doing a bit of good back in March. Oh well better late than never.
Have you ever noticed any of these things on food/beverages that you consume? Well if you haven't then you might want to start examining packages and labels; you could be throwing away money. At the beginning of this year I noticed that Yoplait yogurt had these gold labels. Each one that you saved and sent in contributes money to Feed America. I didn't save up very many but decided it would be worth licking off the yogurt top and then popping them in the mail. Wasn't any skin off my teeth. Last year I saved up all the Yoplait lids that were pink to send in to help with breast cancer research only I waited too long to get them sent and missed the deadline. I did not repeat the same mistake this time.
Also many schools collect box tops, Campbells soup labels, Tyson Chicken labels, Cream O' Weber Milk lids, and water bottle labels (sorry can't remember what brand they are and I already turned them in, they are the blue and yellow ones). The point is, there are lots of companies out there that are willing to donate money to schools and all you have to do is cut out a little square or tear off a label. Not that hard. Even if you don't have kids in school, you can save yours and drop them off at a school, or send them with a neighbor child. Most schools collect these things because extra money is always needed. And don't just assume every flashy label is a stupid contest, maybe it is a chance to do a little good.
Thank you for the reminder! I have been bad about this in the past. I need to eat more yogurt anyway!
