Tablecloth Repurpose Series: Day 4 Lunch Bag

Today is the last of my tablecloth repurpose projects.  This is another super easy idea: a reusable lunch bag.  I have had one of these since I was in High School (not the same one obviously).  They are a great way to carry a sack lunch and are easy to wash if they get dirty.  NOTE: you can make the exact same thing with regular fabric following these instructions.
To make one of these you will need:
2 pieces of tablecloth 12x15
1. Cut your pieces to size.
 2.  Cut a 2 1/2" square from the corners of both pieces.
 3.  Place right sides together and sew the side and bottom seams.
 4.  Bring the cut edges at the corners right sides together (the side seam and bottom seam should match in the center).  Sew these cut edges together to form a boxed bottom on the lunch bag.  Repeat on the other corner.
 5.  If you wish you can turn down a 1/2 inch all the way around the top and stitch to form a finished top edge or if you have a serger then just stitch all along the top edge to "finish" it.  Either way, once you have done that you can fold over the of your bag and turn it down twice and secure with a cloths pin.  If this were for a kid you could paint the cloths pin and add a character shape (an animal or butterfly) out of wood to the cloths pin.  Attach a cute lunch bag note with the cloths pin and you are set.

Happy repurposing everyone.

  2. Just wanted to pop on and tell you that I made the pacifier bag from your tute. It was soooo easy! What an awesome and cheap add on to a shower gift. I actually looped it right onto the gift bag. Cute! Thanks!

  3. Great idea!! I have a vinyl tablecloth that I cut into in order to make cloth diapers for my daughter's Baby Alive doll. I didn't use anwhere NEAR the whole tablecloth, so I have tons of scrap. This would be a great us of all that vinyl!
