The second installment in my "Gifts from the Heart" series is a Holiday Recipes book. I made this one as a keepsake for Small Fry. I am making one for my little pumpkin too. I will put them in their boxes and one day they will be a treasure to each of them. You could make one for someone you love right now.
I found these blank books at Michaels Crafts in their $1.00 bins. I covered the pages and made pockets for the holiday recipe cards (which I also found in the $1.00 bins). I chose some of my favorite holiday recipes to write on the cards (in my own handwriting). I know that one day when my mom is gone, I will be able to look back at some of the recipes she has written for me and be transformed to a time when I was in her kitchen with her. I love her handwriting and I think it is a treasure to have as a keepsake-the handwriting of someone you love. I wish I had something with my Baba's (Grandma's) handwriting on it.
On the card pouches I wrote little notes about the recipe-who it first came from, a memory about it, or additional recipe notes. I signed each one "Love mom."
This would be a great gift for a Grandchild, a daughter or son (who is cooking inclined) or even a close friend. Need another idea, check out this one: http://smallfryandco.blogspot.com/2009/10/mini-paper-bag-book.html
Very cute idea. I love your work. Thanks so much for sharing
ReplyDeletesuper cute idea. I have recipe cards written by my mom and my grandmother that I have framed and hung in my kitchen. The cool thing is they just happened to be on the identical style recipe card! Thanks for the idea!
