As soon as my daughter got hers out of the box I braided that sucker!!! It has held up quite nicely in the braid (and my little one didn't mind, since it is braided in part of the movie). You can wash the hair with a child's shampoo and it helps remove tangles (and hairspray, which is how I know that!).
Ashley, thanks! I was so ready to toss this doll! I'm still thinking I may leave the shears out on the table where my 8 year old can find them. Wait...what if she cuts her OWN hair. Baby shampoo here I come. Jackie
I've also washed Barbie's hair, it does help. I braded my daughters Rapunzel's hair too. It's held on for a couple of months now. She has a little one that she wouldn't let me brade, then it kept getting stuck in the arms finally she said she wanted to throw it away because there was so much hair stuck. So I fixed it and told her I was brading it. Now she loves it again. :)
See, ours was once braided but it came undone and I don't know if there is any hope of me getting it untangled. I will have to try the baby shampoo, otherwise she is getting a hair cut. My thought is: the doll is super cute to look at but not practical for kids.
We had a doll with long tangled hair. I found a site online that advised soaking the hair in downy overnight. After rinsing it the tangles brushed out easily. Then I braided it and made the girls promise not to undo it! So far, so good!
We had the same problem & my daughter insisted on brushing her hair, which is fine until I realized it was shedding. I did a fishtail braid & we got a bunch of itty bitty fabric flowers & if she wanted to play with her hair she just rearranges the flowers. Her hair has been braided for just over 1 week & this is the longest it's stayed that way. If it didn't provide so much free time for me that doll would have been long gone by now!
Ahahahaha. That's awesome. You should cut it and see if she turns into a brunette. Maybe that's a secret trick of the doll and they're waiting to see if anyone is cruel enough to do it.
The American Girl Doll store uses warm water and a wire brush in order to keep the hair shiny. Hopefully that helps a little! They also use a detangler on the really tough dolls!
Believe it or not I have hair to my knees and its not ever that bad! she needs a deep conditioner and a good trim! lol I have boys, adults, so they say anyway, and they actually had a time where they loved all the "guy barbies" never had to worry about there hair. I was sometimes just rubber that had a few grooves in it. lol
My mother in law bought the Tangled wig for my daughter. One word, disgusting! I can't even stand to look at that tangled mess! I hid it in a target bag somewhere, I might have to try the baby shampoo or downy tricks!

ReplyDeleteSorry not Braded, or brade but braid (I had a really long day today and it's late) :)

ReplyDeleteI use my daughter's detangler in Repunzel's and it helps. However... how cute would she look with a chin bob? :)
